As Medical Director at Pace School, Dr. Vallano works with administrators and the direct service staff to improve the quality and scope of the mental health services provided through the Pace School Partial Hospitalization Program and their seamless integration with the educational program.

Dr. Vallano is a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. He has received the Joseph Heidenkamp Child Psychiatry Award and the Allegheny County Community Citation of Merit. His articles on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Child Psychology, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and Journal of Child and Adolescent Pychopharmacology.  He has also shared his expertise on the subject of ADHD as a noted lecturer and guest of local television and radio programs.

He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC).  Dr. Vallano has held academic positions at WPIC, Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute, Allegheny General Hospital, Medical College of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Vallano is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Pittsburgh Regional Organization of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Among his many community service activities, Dr. Vallano is a volunteer faculty member of UPMC as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and he offered his professional services as a mental health counselor for the USAIR Flight #427 disaster.
