| DESCRIPTION | The special education teacher implements instruction in assigned educational areas according to the developmental level of the students and Pennsylvania academic standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing IEPs, planning and preparing lesson plans, and evaluating student performance. The special education teacher works as part of a classroom team. Students range in age from K - th grade. The day-to-day and long-term substitute teacher is called whenever there is a need for teacher coverage due to an unscheduled or scheduled teacher absence; the substitute positions are temporary and not eligible for benefits.
