KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Bradley D. Stein, (M.D. University of Pittsburgh 1995, M.P.H University of Pittsburgh 1997, Ph.D. Health Policy, RAND Graduate School 2002) is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Senior Scientist at the RAND Corporation, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Child Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Stein completed his psychiatry residency and child psychiatry fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC). Dr. Stein has extensive experience in working with schools to improve the services for and functioning of children with emotional and behavioral problems, including emotionally disabled children. He was one of the original leaders of an academic-community partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District that developed, implemented, evaluated, and has disseminated a school-based intervention for children exposed to violence. The CBITS (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools) evaluation results were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, and CBITS is now recognized as an evidence-based program by SAMHSA’s National Registry of Effective and Promising Programs, the Department of Education, and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). Subsequently, he participated in the development of the Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET) Program, modifying the CBITS intervention for use with students by teachers and other non-clinicians. He currently serves on the Schools Committee of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Advisory Board on the Center for School Mental Health at the University of Maryland. Dr. Stein’s research has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
