Who We Are

Pace Learning Center is a private academic school option for school districts and families of students grades K-6, giving them the opportunity to participate in a program that uniquely blends educational and behavioral supports.

Located in Southern Butler County, this private Elementary and Special Education School focuses on serving children who are struggling in their current school placement.

The Pace Learning Center is a program of Pace School, a private non-profit 501c(3) organization established in 1967.

About Our Students

The Pace Learning Center program is designed to address the needs of K-5th grade students, who are experiencing difficulty in their current educational setting due to social, emotional or behavioral challenges.

Pace Learning Center addresses the needs of K-5th grade students who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Is experiencing difficulty in their current educational setting due to social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
  • Has experienced and/or is recovering from traumatic or chronically stressful experiences
  • Is a child eligible for special education services under the category of Autism, Pervasive Developmental Delay, Learning Disabled or Emotional Disturbed
  • Would benefit from transitional support upon discharge from a mental health treatment facility (i.e, residential treatment facility, psychiatric inpatient, partial hospital program)
  • Would benefit from case management and liaison services

Providing Educational Services and Behavioral Health Support

Pace Learning Center serves public school kids, families and communities by providing an environment of physical, emotional, social, and moral safety. Its innovative blend of academics and mental health delivers quality education while providing necessary support for children in need. A Behavioral Health Liaison is on-site to work with students and families. They also act as an interagency liaison, to help coordinate seamless care with other services including wraparound providers, who are welcome to attend the program with students.

Academic Programming includes:

  • Differentiated instruction based on student’s individual needs
  • Measurable strength-based goals and objectives for academic instruction
  • Curriculum aligned with the Pennsylvania State Academic Standards
  • Weekly progress monitoring and other formative assessment approaches
  • Annual diagnostic assessments in reading and math
  • Evidence-based instruction in all core subjects
  • Participation in the Pennsylvania State System of Assessment (PSSA/PASA), as applicable

Social, emotional and behavioral supports also include:

  • Social skills instruction
  • Emotions management and coping skills development
  • Individualized plans to help students cope with their anxieties and express their needs

Admission and Enrollment

Pace Learning Center (PLC) currently has the capacity to serve 24 children. For school district paid tuition, referrals to PLC must be made by the child’s home school district. For privately paid tuition, the child’s parent(s) or educational guardian may make the referral. Parents or school districts interested in enrolling their child should contact the Intake Coordinator for additional information and guidance on the referral process.
