Extended School Year Program
Students who qualify for Extended School Year services and who would benefit from continuous educational/therapeutic programming participate in Pace School’s Extended School Year (ESY) summer therapeutic program.
The five-week program is for students ages 6 through 12 with emotional and autistic support needs. During Pace’s four-day-per-week schedule, students remain on campus Monday through Wednesday, and on Thursdays participate in a special activity.
According to each child’s ESY plan, academic instruction in reading and language arts, math and social skills involves use of a variety of research-based materials and strategies, including computer activities.
The related service of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is in place for each student according to the ESY plan.
As appropriate, the PHP may include:
- Individual or family therapy
- Play therapy
- Targeted small groups focusing on social skills development, emotions management, problem solving or other relevant therapeutic issues
The goal of the Pace School ESY Summer Therapeutic Program is to maintain continuity of service for eligible students in a trauma sensitive school setting.
