A Successful Transition

This is the story of Michael, a young man who was adopted. Michael settled in at Pace rather quickly and did well both academically and socially.  As with all students, his treatment team documented his progress and reviewed his plan every 20 days.  At Pace, a recommendation to transition back to public school can be made after a minimum of two treatment review periods (40 days) with above average behavior and progress.  This was the case for Michael when his treatment team, with the support of his father, made the referral for Michael to begin his transition after just a few months.

Students that are transitioning back to public school from Pace typically spend part of their day at their home school and attend Pace for the rest of the day.  As they progress, they slowly increase their time in their district and decrease their time at Pace.  Michael began this pattern in March and was able to overcome some significant obstacles with the support of his home school, his family, and Pace. He finished the school year attending his home district for 60% of the day. He returned to Pace the following year in September and resumed this schedule.  His progress continued and by October he began attending his school district 100% of the time.  Pace continued to provide support to Michael, his family, and his district until his discharge in December.  Congratulations to Michael on all of his hard work and accomplishments.  He is another example of a Pace success story whose time at Pace ends with a new beginning.
